Who We Are
We are organic intellectuals.
We are social entrepreneurs leading our communities towards self-realization and self-determination. We are the embodiment of our generation's unrealized potential.
We are byproducts of the community and the people who have looked out for us. We are self-taught. We are not formally trained in business, marketing, or the arts. We have come up through the ranks out in the streets of our city and this is what gives us the competitive edge. Librarians, coaches, teachers, professors, bus drivers, police, parents, community activists, and many others are responsible for the birth and maturation of DreamCity. With continued support of foundations, business leaders, politicians, universities, the media, after-school programs, schools, parents, coaches, librarians, and many others we will continue giving arts back to where it belongs.
DreamCity is a movement based in the nation's capital that focuses on harnessing the voices, ideas, and dreams of young adults in the D.C Metropolitan area.
We cross artificial neighborhood boundaries. We engage young adults and community members from all 8 wards of DC and the surrounding metropolitan area. We are a forward looking, progress oriented, group of concerned citizens taking back our communities from outside forces.
Our activities focus on civic engagement within the city without limiting ourselves to one area of social responsibility.
We work closely with libraries, recreation centers, civic centers, arts centers, and other neutral meeting grounds across the city. DreamCity works closely with members of the non-profit, academic, business, and artistic community.
Members benefit from active participation in DreamCity through exposure to artistic, grant, and scholarship opportunities. We educate members in financial independence, academic excellence, and community engagement.
